Reader Response: POE

The story is called "The Black Cat" and it is written by Edgar Allen Poe. The story starts out when the main character was small and he loved animals. He loved to feed them and take care of them. The boy grew p and got married to a woman that loved animals as well. They had rabbits, birds, gold-fish, a fine dog, and a small monkey, and a black cat. The cat was beautiful and adorable. He got along with all the other animals. Until one day he noticed that he was becoming bad tempered. He was starting to fight with his wife. The pets of course felt the change of the mans mood. The man was nice to Pluto though, he did not maltreat the cat. One day he got home intoxicated and the cat avoided his presence. So the man picked up the cat and the cat made a slight wound on his hand. Infuriated the man grabbed a penknife and cut out one of the cats eye. The next day he was remorseful and found the cat to be in n pain. The cat ran out at the sight of the man. Once again the man was irritated and in cold blood he grabbed a rope and hanged up the cat to a tree. That night they woke up to a fire and lost everything. they moved to an apartment. The man found a cat with a patch of white on its breast and the rest black, similar to Pluto. The cat was taken home and the man tried to kill it but his wife stopped his hand and instead he killed his wife. He buried the woman in the attic and later couldn't find the cat. One day some police men showed up and searched the house and heard a cat sound coming from the wall. When they opened it they found the decaying body and the cat alive next to the body. Whats memorable about the story is how the man was nice at first and then became a mean person. "The latter was a remarkably large and beautiful animal, entirely black, and sagacious to an astonishing degree"(pg.9). This line represents the story because the fact that it id a cat, it gave me an idea that the cat was evil and mysterious.

A Word That Defines Me

A word that defines me is "Friendliness", I love meeting new people and being friendly all the time. This word fits me well because I always tend to get along with people who return the same effect but other than that I'm always talking to them, and trying to make them feel comfortable. I like to be friendly because i would want them to be the same way towards me and it makes me feel better. The dictionary definition is: a characteristic of or befitting a friend; showing friendship: a friendly greeting. My definition of friendliness is just being yourself and making new friends, and also making them feel less awkward around you. I feel like this word because i feel a positive attitude coming from the people that i get to meet.

Today In Government

Today I learned in my government class how the government finances the economy. The money comes from the "Taxes". Congress uses taxing powers to finance the government as well as for non revenue purposes. The Constitutional limitations are as follow:
1. may be levied only for public proposes
2. export taxes are prohibited
3. direct taxes must be equally apportioned among the states according to population
4. indirect taxes must be levied at the same rate through tout the country

I also learned the kinds of taxes, which are: Federal Income Tax and it is levied on both corporation and individuals. It varies depending on amount the person receives. Social Insurance Taxes are paid by employees and employers, who finance social security. Medicare and unemployment compensation. Excise Taxes are taxes on the manufacture sale or consumption of goods or services. They are passed to consumers by the producers. Estate Taxes is a tax on the estate of one who dies.

Today In Math

Today in my Pre-Calclus Honors class, I learned the "Law of Cosines". Basically you have a triangle and the problem gives you three things to work with. Which are either an angle or a side of the triangle. There are certain types of formulas to find the answer and they are:

EXAMPLE:

Given a=5, b=8, c=7

Use one of the formulas above... Now you find COSB= 5^2+7^-8^2

COSA=8^2+7^2-5^2 2*5*7

2*8*7 B= 81.8

COSA= .785 = A= COS -1 (.785)

A= 38.21

Now you have to find angle

And this is how you find the angles missing and the sides, basically depends what the problem gives you to work with.

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

I just finished reading Breaking Dawn this morning and although I wish there was more,well it was extraordinary. Bella gets married with Edward and they spend their honeymoon on Esme Island. Their honeymoon is interrupted when they discover that Bella is pregnant. They return home and the pregnancy is critical because Bella does not get the nutrition that she needs, since the fetus is growing so fast and taking all the nutrition. Until she starts drinking blood and starts to feel and look better. She has the baby and is about to die but Edward acts immediately and injects the venom. She is turned into a vampire and the family faces new problems. The Volturi find out about Renesmee(daughter) and think that she is an immortal child. The whole family find many witnesses and Renesmee shows them the truth. Renesmee has a gift that when she touches you she shows you many things. By the time the Volturi arrive the witnesses defend the Cullen's. Alice and Jasper arrive to the scene and introduce Nihuel and Nahuen to the crowd of spectators. Nahuen is half-human and half-vampire just like Renesmee and he convinces the Volturi that there is no danger and so they leave. Bella discovers how to use her gift better and protect the others. She also learns how to let Edward hear her thoughts. After the Volturi's departure everyone is happy and the witnesses leave in peace. THE END...

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

so, i just finishe the third book Eclipse of the Twilight saga. The book was pretty amazing. Edward returns at the end of New Moon. Then there's Jacob who is heart broken because Edward returned to Bella. Jacob is determined to fight for Bella but when she finds out that she loves them both, she has to choose the right one. Bella knows that she can't live without Edward and all she wants for Jacob is to find someone else and be happy. Bella is in trouble again because Victoria is forming up an army of newborns to kill her. Edward and his family and the werewolfs unite and fight the enemies. They all succeed and Jacob is hurt badly. But he is recovering fast, then Bella makes her decision final and choses Edward. She allows Alice to plan the wedding so they can be married and Edward can be the one to change her into a vampire. In the book the epilogue treaty is seen through Jacobs mind. Now i will be stating the fourth book Breaking Dawn. When I am done ill post up a summary and how it went. But for Eclipse the book had a lot of funny things and it really captivated me.

A BOOK EVERYONE SHOULD READ

I think that everyone should read the Twilight series it is so amazing. I'm finishing up on Eclipse the third book of the Twilight series. The author is Stephenie Meyer and the book is about a girl named Bella who moves in with her dad Charlie, to Washington, Forks. Its a little town and at school she falls in love with Edward Cullen, who is actually a vampire. When he tells her his secret she isn't afraid and still wants to be with him. This book will captivate the readers like it did to me because it was so detailed and had many intersting parts to it. It is important for others to read because it opens new worlds in your imagination that you didn't even know that existed. So don't judge a book by its cover and go ahead and read it give it a try and you'll be captivated. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
